Auburn and Texas A&M have a history long before becoming conference-mates. The two teams first met in 1911 in Dallas, Texas. Auburn was coming off two wins to open the season against Mercer and Clemson. The Aggies walked away with a 16-0 victory over Mike Donahue's Tigers. It would be more than a half-century before the teams faced off again. On New Year's Day 1986, Auburn and Texas A&M once again met in Dallas, but this time in the historic Cotton Bowl. It would be the bowl game's 50th anniversary. In what would be Bo Jackson's final game as a Tiger, the Heisman Trophy winner rushed 31 times for 129 yards and took two receptions for 73 yards Bo would score twice, once on the ground and once through the air. Unfortunately, Texas A&M would win 36-16. In 2012, Texas A&M joined the Southeastern Conference and were placed in the West Division guaranteeing annual meetings with Auburn.
