Today, we joined the Walk Against Family Violence and walked in solidarity with victim survivors and community members.⁣ ⁣ The walk marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence - a global campaign that seeks to raise awareness about family violence and inspire action to end violence against women and children.⁣ ⁣ Family violence continues to be a significant source of harm to the Victorian community, with police responding to almost 99,000 family violence incidents in the last year - that’s one family violence incident every five minutes.⁣ ⁣ Family Violence Command, Assistant Commissioner Lauren Callaway, said that bystanders play a vital role holding critical information that can help police prevent further family violence harm.⁣ ⁣ “Many acts of family violence happen right in front of us – so we need bystanders to please not ignore it, don’t look the other way, and don’t make excuses for it.”⁣ ⁣ The walk gives people an opportunity to stand with m...
