Alongside thousands of others, we recently came across margiello_’s custom R10 Air Max 1, inspired by the legend that is ronaldinho. Made using a pair of R10’s signature Nike Tiempo, Margiel set about creating a handcrafted sneaker that pays tribute to both models from the Swoosh. A premium quilted leather toebox looks back to a variation of the model, with an Italian leather upper sewed using techniques intended for football boots. In addition, the tricoloured stitching — a key part of the collection — also makes a return. And while custom has many nods to the original, there are also several innovations including a velcro tongue that, when detached, reveals a traditional one found in an Air Max. As a whole, the release is — in his own words — a “tribute to the perfect era in which I had the opportunity to live in”, from the creative players to the boots they wore.
