The city swept three protest encampments — Ohlone Park, Berkeley Corporation Yard and Fourth Street and Bancroft Way — Nov. 20 at approximately 7 a.m., citing various reasons in notices posted at the sites.
Nonprofit organization Where Do We Go, or WDWG, has since established another encampment by Berkeley Bowl West in response to the sweeps. WDWG has been establishing protest encampments following Berkeley’s ruling that encampments may be swept without offering alternative shelter to unhoused people. The first encampment was assembled at Old City Hall on Sept. 28.
