Here’s me meeting my childhood hero, R.L. Stine—although apparently, he goes by “Bob.”
Bob signed my Night of the Living Dummy book, gave me a hard time for almost accidentally stealing his Sharpie, and then thanked me for letting him be a bad influence on my childhood through his books.
I got to tell him how, in elementary school, I’d buy every Goosebumps book at the Scholastic book fair, and then spend the whole weekend reading them in my closet with a flashlight.
After working the room with his wonderfully weird “old man” jokes, he then delivered one of the funniest, most entertaining lectures and Q&A sessions I’ve ever attended.
Huge appreciation to my friends at Flagler College for bringing this influential legend of a man to us, and letting me be part of this special interaction.
And to Bob: Thanks for creeping us out as kids, and making us laugh as adults.
“I’m so happy to be here. Especially since a lot of people think I’m dead.” - R.L. Stine
