What do you notice about the way Quinn rushes the puck up ice through the neutral zone?
Did you notice
A) his ability to scan - from the second he gathers the puck in his D-zone, he doesnāt look down one single time. He has his eyes up, keeping the puck in his peripherals (peripheral vision) - itās during these few seconds that heās developing a plan in his head, based on his surroundings and how the play is developing around him
B) his poise - how calm, cool, & collected he is with the puck on his stick. It almost looks like heās moving in slow motion, when in reality, this is in full speed
These two abilities alone can change your game overnight. Youāll stop panicking with the puck, throwing the puck away, or causing turnovers
But it takes an incredible level of stick-handling ability and puck control. You essentially want to be able to stickhandle with your eyes closed. Therefore, youāll be able to skate with your head up ...
