Beachgoers should be on alert for sneaker waves late Saturday and into Sunday afternoon along the southern Oregon coast, the National Weather Service warned. The hazard warning includes the shorelines of Douglas, Coos and Curry counties. Sneaker waves run higher on the shore than others, often catching people on the beach by surprise. They can knock over a person and pull them out into the water.
