On Nov. 12, seven
#USAFA cadets of South Asian heritage, including C3C Anoushka Rishi, attended the usairforce Art Program unveiling at the Pentagon. The ceremony unveiled a portrait of Air Force Sgt. Sabu Dastagir.
Dastagir was an Indian American actor who starred in movies during the 1930s and 1940s, including Rudyard Kiplingβs βThe Jungle Bookβ and βThe Thief of Baghdad.β He became an American citizen in 1944 and enlisted in the Army Air Forces during World War II.
Anoushka reflected on the event, saying, βSgt. Sabu Dastagir was a man who embodied great courage and sacrifice in his service to our country. His service on B-24 Liberator bombers after his beginnings in India reminds us that bravery knows no borders.β
