#OnThisDay in 1847, abolitionist Frederick Douglass published the first edition of "The North Star," a groundbreaking newspaper dedicated to exposing the injustices faced by Black people in the pre-Civil War era. Its powerful motto proclaimed: “Right is of no sex—Truth is of no color—God is the Father of us all, and we are brethren." Today, we honor the Activists, Advocates, Historians, Journalists, Influencers, and Everyday people who are committed to sharing the truth and dispelling myths about the injustices we still face.
