On September 10, 2023, my beautiful mother passed away at the age of 88. She would have been 90 this week, on December 2, 2024. Mom had a great run—a life full of love, wisdom, and purpose. And now, she’s been promoted. If anyone is dancing in heaven, crocheting with the Lord, and teaching financial literacy to souls preparing for this world, it’s her. She invested in others. She built people up. She told me she loved me every single day of my life. That’s the kind of mother she was. Mom taught me one of life’s greatest lessons: there’s a difference between being broke and being poor. Being broke is economic. Being poor is a disabling frame of mind, a depressed condition of your spirit. She made me promise to never, ever, let my spirit be poor again. And that promise has shaped my life. The calmness you see in me today? That’s her spirit. The love I share? That’s her legacy. To anyone reading this, I hope my mother’s story inspires you as much as she inspired me. Love you forever,...
