The Flashes opened at home against the Saint Francis Red Flash. In the unofficial Battle of the Flash, Saint Francis took the early lead with a Field Goal followed by a Touchdown and Extra Point in the First Quarter.

On a roll, the Red Flash reached the endzone first in the Second Quarter extending their lead 17-0 over Kent. With 5:59 left in the first half Ulatowski connected with McCray to put 6 on the board for the Flashes, Andrew Glass followed with the Extra Point to make it 17-7. Saint Francis added 3 more to extend their lead 20-7. With 46 seconds left in the First Half Kargman found Floriea in the endzone, Glass sent another one through the uprights and the Flashes entered Halftime down 6 to SFU. The second half was pretty ugly, with both teams adding only a Field Goal to their scores, the Red Flash won 23-17.
