Meet the đ§âď¸ Ice Star - an Antarctic starfish that can live two miles below the surface of the icy water of the Southern Ocean and has been lost to science for over 60 years. Unlike other species of starfish, Ice Stars raise their young inside a special body cavity called the coelom before giving birth through their⌠MOUTH!
#Rewild and partners are working to find this lost species, but it will take some deep-sea navigation and creativity. An Ice Star rediscovery could help researchers better understand the effects of a warming ocean on deep-sea life.
The Ice Star is the latest addition to Re:wildâs most wanted
#lostspecies, which are supported by colossal Foundation.
