Some sushi restaurants are like monasteries, all stillness and quiet and craftspeople bent to their tasks. Other sushi restaurants are like parties, with loud music and flaming rolls quenched with sake and Sapporo beer. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is more like a casino. Or perhaps a Pachinko parlor, insofar as a Pachinko parlor resembles a casino, with its rows of glowing screens that chime out with bells, whistles and clangs. The Japanese chain, which opened its first Oregon restaurant in Beaverton Town Square in September, sets itself apart with its embrace of technology, including touch-screen tablets at every table, plate-bussing slots that generate prizes and robot waiters that mostly seem to get in the way.
