✨ Thanks to the ‘Water is Her Right!’ Event in Sebastopol, We Drilled a New Well in Burkina Faso ✨
A new well has been constructed in Burkina Faso as a result of March’s ‘Water is Her Right!’ event at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center.
Now, 600 people living in the community of Tingyiri will finally have access to sustainable and convenient clean water from a closed-system, deep-water well.
The new well was inaugurated at the end of November and it was a great privilege to witness the launch ceremony with dancing, singing, speeches, and celebration affirming that Water is Her Right for the women & girls in the community!
Previously, the residents of Tingyiri, historically a blacksmith community proficient in iron works in pre-colonial times, relied on unsafe and inconsistent open wells in their area. However, the water from these wells was easily contaminated, and would quickly run out during the dry seasons. The nearest closed well was 2km away in a neighboring community, ...
