In Kansas City, we met Doug and Shirley Hitt, an incredible couple working together to help Doug recover from his 2019 stroke. Thanks to the support of falling_fwd, Doug has continued with his therapy after his insurance coverage ran out. Like so many survivors and carepartners, recovery has been a long journey for them. Before the stroke, both Shirley and Doug worked in the medical field as social workers and physical therapists, respectively. They've now retired and brought all that knowledge and experience to Doug's recovery. Shirley reminds us that "You can still dream. You're never sure you'll be able to do those kinds of things again. So yeah, you can, it might look different, but you can still do it."
