Many drivers in Saskatchewan have been facing wintery road conditions, with first responders being no exception.
This video of firefighters and paramedics crawling across an icy roadway to get a patient on a stretcher to safety was taken on Highway 9 between Yorkton and Canora, Sask. on Monday.
Environment Canada issued a winter storm warning for parts of Saskatchewan east of Moosomin and Yorkton that morning.
“Freezing rain has developed overnight and will transition to heavy snow late this morning,” said Environment Canada in an alert.
“Accumulating freezing rain is possible along both the Trans-Canada Highway and Yellowhead Highway corridors.”
The area had light snow Tuesday morning but all active weather alerts in the province have been lifted.
Due to snow and ice, some residents are still dealing with power outages. SaskPower says it should be restored in some neighbourhoods by the afternoon.
