Part 1: I’ve been going down the cancer rabbit hole since my wife’s breast cancer is back. 1) Standard of Care (the protocol all doctors must follow to bill insurance and avoid lawsuits) has turned physicians into functionaries. The first rule of medicine is no longer “do no harm” it’s “don’t get sued” with “what does your insurance cover” as a close second. For an oncologist to recommend a ketogenic diet or anything other than chemotherapy in a case where the standard of care recommends it, they’d loose their license. This isn’t a statement on their ethics (every doctor I’ve interacted with seems like a “good person”), it’s a statement on the puppet strings by which they are bound that you don’t see. #herosjourney #cancer #medicine
