In honor of #NationalDayOfTheHorse, we felt it was fitting to honor New Years Eve who is believed to be the oldest living registered Thoroughbred in the United States 💝 Part of TDN’s 2024 in Photos series, the 38-year-old is pictured galloping around his paddock at home in Pennsylvania earlier this year, on March 18. Foaled the same year as Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, “Axl” surpassed Prospect Point’s age of 38 years and 204 days this October, making him one of the oldest Thoroughbreds on record. Owner Julie Izzo shared this update on her remarkable horse: “Axl is doing well despite Father Time being his jockey. He enjoys eating, napping, and taking walks around the property.”
