Senior Kellen Oliver erupted for 332 yards of total offense to lead the Cougars to a decisive 42-20 victory over Woodburn in both teams’ Special District 2 opener on Friday night.

The Cougars set the tone early, starting the game with a three-play, 75-yard scoring drive that included a pair rushes from Taeler Pfenning for 40 yards, capped by a 35-yard touchdown pass from Oliver to senior Jackson Doman.

“I’m proud of the guys. We put a lot of pressure on them this week, because we know the team that’s been out there the last few weeks — the product that we’ve been putting on the field — hasn’t really exhibited what we know this team’s capable of,” Canby head coach Jimmy Joyce said. “We’re a little beat up right now, but at the same time we still got a lot of key pieces.”
