Today in Hip-Hop — Nas released his sixth studio album, ‘God’s Son.’
On December 13, 2002, Nas returned with ‘God’s Son.’ Following a whirlwind few months with a heated battle with Jay-Z, as well as the tragic loss of his mother, Nas noted that this was his “most personal album” and that he had poured his “heart and spirit into it.” The 14-track record featured appearances from Bravehearts, Alicia Keys, Claudette Ortiz of City High, Kelis, and even vocals from the late 2pac.
With singles like “I Can,” “Made You Look,” “Get Down,” and production from Salaam Remi, The Alchemist, and Large Professor, the album was well received. ‘God’s Son’ was certified platinum and all three singles charted on Billboard.
