South Korean lawmakers impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday — after Yoon launched a failed attempt to impose martial law on December 3. Out of 300 lawmakers, 204 voted to impeach the president on allegations of insurrection while 85 voted against. Yoon had said he wanted to protect the country from 'threats posed by North Korea's communist forces and to eliminate anti-state elements plundering people's freedom and happiness'.
