In May 2023, Jose, a father of two and an experienced journeyman electrician, suffered a life-changing work accident that resulted in the loss of his left leg below the knee. Thanks to his quick thinking and the rapid response of paramedics and the team at Chandler Regional Medical Center's Level One Trauma Center, Jose not only survived but, in the process, also found a new purpose in his life and career. Jose's survival depended on immediate access to specialized trauma care. He underwent 12 surgeries and 111 days of rehabilitation, learning to walk again and function well in his daily life. Today, Jose works as a Tekline Services Safety Manager, using his experience and OHSA training to help train and protect his fellow electricians on the job.
