Oregon voters delivered an unsurprising result in the presidential election this year, favoring a Democrat, this time Vice President Kamala Harris, for the 10th consecutive time.
However, the state’s reputation as a reliable Democratic stronghold belies the longstanding disagreement between substantial portions of the electorate on the direction of the state and nation.
While Harris won 55% of the vote in Oregon, President-elect Donald Trump won 41%. And some areas of the state went deeper red this cycle compared to 2020, while others trended more solidly blue, noted pollster John Horvick, senior vice president at the firm DHM Research.
