Excited to share this finished bathroom project for my client in Saugerties, NY. The sitch? The client wanted a peaceful and zen, Japanese inspired bathhouse that would unify the indoors and outdoors in her traditional home. She wanted to keep her cabinets, use the travertine tile she picked and have a deep soaking tub. To achieve the look, we incorporated natural and organic elements, calming neutral colors to compliment them, and glass that gives a water-like effect. Sustainabilty and working locally were also key factors. The floor, tub apron and custom sliding door are all made from reclaimed teak. The door serves two purposes- when slid one way, it's a shower door, the other it's a closet door. A primitive Japanese door was the inspiration for its design. The countertops are made from remnant of black honed granite. And the finishing touch? An antique towel holder her mother passed down to her. I'm obsessed with the patina! Swipe for a peek at the before and concept board! ...
