The stars at night are big and bright 👏 👏 👏 👏 deep in the heart of Texas! The DarkSky program is working to keep it that way by promoting practices that restore our view of the night sky, protect wildlife, and save energy. During the Wednesday, October 2 City Council meeting, City Council members voted to adopt changes to the lighting ordinance that gets the City of Buda one step closer to becoming an International DarkSky Community. Here are some notable changes for Buda residents: ⭐Temporary lighting is exempt between October 1 – January 15 if lamps are under 50 lumens. ⭐New flagpoles must now be illuminated only from above. Lighting can be attached to the top of the flagpole or positioned on a structure within 15 feet of the flagpole. ⭐String, festoon, and bistro lighting is limited to a maximum output of 125 lumens per linear foot of line.
