Gugliuzza, of North Tonawanda, performed during “Christmas Classics with the BPO” Tuesday night, earning a standing ovation from the audience in our sold-out Scaccia Auditorium. He performed Polonaise Brilliante No. 1 in D Major, Op. 4. The six-minute piece was published by virtuoso violinist and composer Henri Wieniawski in 1853; it has been a staple of virtuoso violinists since its composition. At about the halfway point of the one-hour concert, Gugliuzza was welcomed to the stage by the conductor Fernanda Lastra.
