What an extra-special night of holiday music for Canisius High School and Sam Gugliuzza ’25.
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performed at CHS for the second straight December, and Tuesday night’s concert included a wonderful moment as the BPO invited Gugliuzza, an accomplished violinist from North Tonawanda, to join them.
Gugliuzza displayed his fantastic talents as the featured violinist for Polonaise Brilliante No. 1 in D Major, Op. 4. The piece was published by virtuoso violinist and composer Henri Wieniawski in 1853; it has been a staple of virtuoso violinists since its composition.
Gugliuzza’s appearance was at about the halfway point of the one-hour concert, as he was welcomed to the stage by conductor Fernanda Lastra, BPO Assistant Conductor.
