What do you notice?
- Separation between stick and puck (snapshot) *plus small angle change*
- The “BOW” of his stick (flex)
- His face, clearly exerting as much energy possible (grunt)
This ended up being 82 mph and he scored top right over the glove of Jake Oettinger (I used to shoot on Jake when I worked for Stop It Goaltending)
The announcer said “wrist-shot”. Do you agree?
I would argue this is a snap shot and that most players these days are sort of using a hybrid wrist/snap shot in most cases.
What’s the takeaway here? Work on your snap shots: not only can that separation allow you more time to get flex/power, but it’s quick and deceptive.
