Class 8 students recently traveled to the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate where they learned about the legislative process by partaking in an interactive simulation. Students, acting as senators, examined a bill introduced to the Senate floor, modified it through committees and subcommittees, and voted on a final draft. In addition, four Class 6 and 7 students joined as “members of the press,” observing the simulation and taking notes to report back to their grades.
Dexter Southfield is proud to regularly visit the Institute, and we look forward to the Class 11 visit this January.
