During the AVCA Coaches of the Year award ceremony, presented by the United States Marine Corps, we had the pleasure of speaking with Dain Blanton, head coach of USC’s beach volleyball team, who was honored as the Collegiate Beach Coach of the Year.
 Blanton, a Laguna Beach, California native, was a standout in both basketball and volleyball at Laguna Beach High School. He chose to pursue beach volleyball, earning a scholarship to Pepperdine University, where he played from 1990 to 1994. After college, Blanton embarked on a professional beach volleyball career, achieving significant success, including winning the 2001 World Championship and representing the United States in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. In 2018, Blanton transitioned to coaching, taking the helm at USC’s beach volleyball program.
