“Division III” by Joe Kraus, Spring 2024 Senior Thesis @aumediaandcomm For the second half of my senior thesis, we were given the chance to make a creative project of our choosing. For mine, I chose to create a photo essay highlighting what student-athletes at the Division III level experience, and what it means to them to be a student-athlete. This was a semester-long project featuring photographs taken exclusively by me during my time as a student photographer at Arcadia University. The photos included in this post are just some highlights of the 100 photos total I included in my essay. There are two reasons that motivated me to create this. The first, being that I attended a DIII university and understand firsthand how small they are, and two, because I see how my classmates live and how different their college experience is from both my own but also any other athletes.
