We continue our Thanksgiving memory series with Stephanie Campbell a teacher at AR Johnson Magnet School. "When I was 11 years old, I lived on Fort Gordon (Eisenhower now) and I was so excited for Thanksgiving. This was the first Thanksgiving with my new stepfather and the first where we actually had a "feast" being prepared by my mom. My friends were all excited about all the food we were going to eat. We made a pact to not eat anything until dinner was ready. To keep our minds off how hungry we were, we walked the neighborhood, laughing, joking, and just being kids, with no worries. “Finally, it was time to eat. I was so hungry that I ate, and I ate, and I ate. I am the youngest in my family, but I ate the most that year. I sat at the table for an hour after everyone left. I look back fondly of this memory and how much fun I had with my friends and family, the excitement I had in waiting for the food to be done, and the love I felt for my family."
