We're honored to announce the recipient of April's Elphie Awards! Mikey Shock, a student at the University of Arizona, is a passionate Trans activist who consistently fights for and alongside the Trans community in AZ, and beyond. Mikey's friends say: "Her love for others, her community, and of course Elphaba, bleed into all of her civic duties, and of course is a reminder that change can be enacted For Good when sincere brains, heart, and courage are applied to the work. Shortly after making her transition, Mikey was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma and had to undergo multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, losing her hair in the process. While losing your hair while battling cancer would be difficult for anyone, let alone a woman who had finally felt her body reflected her identity, Mikey shaved her head and added a new layer to her advocacy, cancer (specifically Hodgkin's lymphoma).
