By creating more shade we’re making play areas cooler and healthier and connecting kids to nature right outside their classrooms! At our recent schoolyard build at Bella Vista Elementary, eatlearnplay, kaboom, ousdnews, and our dedicated team of volunteers: • Planted 13 new trees • Installed play structures with five shade canopies (our most yet!) • Created two new nature exploration areas • Added a multi-sport court Removing asphalt and increasing green spaces and shade: 🌿 Reduces heat and pollution 🌿 Promotes active play 🌿 Supports physical and mental well-being 🌿 Boosts cognitive development Our second of eight builds in 2024, Bella Vista is part of eatlearnplay’s overall vision to transform the school experience for a generation of Oakland students.
