By creating more shade we’re making play areas cooler and healthier and connecting kids to nature right outside their classrooms! At our recent schoolyard build at Bella Vista Elementary, @eatlearnplay, @kaboom, @ousdnews, and our dedicated team of volunteers: • Planted 13 new trees • Installed play structures with five shade canopies (our most yet!) • Created two new nature exploration areas • Added a multi-sport court Removing asphalt and increasing green spaces and shade: 🌿 Reduces heat and pollution 🌿 Promotes active play 🌿 Supports physical and mental well-being 🌿 Boosts cognitive development Our second of eight builds in 2024, Bella Vista is part of @eatlearnplay’s overall vision to transform the school experience for a generation of Oakland students.
