Their call is georouted so that they can be directed to care services in their area if needed, but no personal information is required. The caller will be connected with a trained crisis counselor who will attempt to give them guidance through whatever situation they are going through. The line also has specialists trained for veterans, Spanish speakers, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
