Imagine a market where social and environmental impact – not financial gain – is the go-to investment metric.
In this world, startups like rrreefs don’t struggle to lure the largest investors. Or face having to triple its impact every year to hit goals of regenerating 1% of coastal coral reefs.
“Our investors are mainly impact-driven angel investors, and many of them have supported us for a long time,” Josephine Graf, Co-CEO and Co-Founder told the UBS Sustainability and Impact Institute.
“Hopefully, more attention will come with innovative financing approaches such as the Global Fund for Coral Reefs – a blended finance mechanism leveraging grants and other instruments that ensure return-based investments into coral reef conservation.”
