in memory of my uncle frank stella it is a peculiar inevitability of the human existence that we know our loved ones must, invariably, transcend physical form, and yet, it never ceases to cause us pain. as one of the greatest american artists of the past century, with a career spanning 60 years, you showed so many people so many things - but for me, you'll always be blowing cigar smoke rings on your farm, letting me imitate your artwork and stealing food from my plate when i turn my head. i cherish the time i got to spend with you in these last few years, stumbling in the house from late nights in new york city and tip toeing up the stairwell, rummaging through massive works in your studio, or hearing about the 60s perhaps the privilege of an artist, not to mention a good one, or if god wills it, a great one, is that even your physical form lasts beyond the impermanece of your body, through every brush stroke, every bent and fired piece of metal, every dancing color 🎥 @xposure.u...
