BOYS HOOPS DEFEND TACO SHACK TITLE: The varsity boys basketball team defeated the Anderson Trojans 54-38 in the second annual Taco Shack Shields Collide rivalry game on New Year’s Eve to close out 2024. The Knights are now 2-0 in Shields Collide history after beating Anderson 51-37 in the inaugural game on Nov. 11, 2023, which was their first win against Anderson since Nov. 13, 2007. The Trojans took control of the opening tip, quickly scoring five points to take an early lead, but the Knights’ offense quickly revved up, allowing them to take the lead at the end of the first quarter 8-7. In the second quarter, it took McCallum over three minutes to make a basket, but the Knights used the rest of the quarter to their full advantage, outscoring Anderson 14-10 to take a 22-17 at half. Senior George McCoy made the greatest impact in the second quarter, scoring 10 of the Knights’ 14 points. McCoy was the games’ top scorer, totaling 22 points by game’s end.
