Hundreds of police officers with SWAT and riot gear entered "People's Park" early this morning to remove a coalition of students, protesters including antifascists, and unhoused poeple who attempted to hold the space, which UC Berkeley intends to turn into dorms. Seven people were arrested. Police pointed weapons into an occupied structure at the middle of People's Park as others used power tools to physically breach it. "You're not supposed to use munitions like that!" protesters yelled at them. "You don't point it at people at close range!" "We love you!" yelled protesters to their comrades as police began arresting those still occupying or on top of structures inside People's Park. Police then declared an "unlawful assembly" and threatened arrest and use of riot weapons against those who remained.
