The Music Program was established in 1924. To celebrate 100 Years of Music at NC State, we’re taking a look back at each decade 🎶📆.
In the 1920s, NC State’s first music director Percy W. Price, who Price Music Center is named after, made a huge impact. He organized an orchestra, men’s glee club, the Red Coat Marching Band, the honorary music fraternity Mu Beta Psi, a drum and bugle corps, a men’s vocal quartet, a concert band, and the ROTC band all during his time as director.
Additionally, in 1925, Alvin M. Fountain and Bonnie Frank Norris, alumni of the ROTC program, composed the NC State Alma Mater.
