So, I came across a video of a man blaming the California wildfires on gay people, and honestly… I’m at a loss. This kind of rhetoric is outdated, dangerous, and just plain ignorant. Blaming marginalized groups for natural disasters is not only absurd but also a distraction from the real issues at hand. We need better conversations, not scapegoats.
On the flip side, the fires have reignited (pun intended) the ‘eat the rich’ discourse as some wealthy families lose their homes. I get it—wealth inequality is a real and valid issue. But seeing people dismiss anyone’s pain because of their bank account feels off. Can we critique systems of inequality and still have compassion for individuals at the same time?
Let me know what y’all think because this is wild on so many levels.
