trainabuse At 8:14 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, a Houston Fire Department truck with sirens and lights engaged went around down gate arms at the Griggs Road crossing as a Union Pacific-powered consist approached. The activity was dangerous — and one we don’t condone. However, the fire truck driver’s lack of hesitation shows a behavior adapted to the surrounding environment. What are those environmental conditions? Prolonged blockages from trains stopping across miles of grade crossings for hours, sometimes a whole day, at a time. At a recent investor conference, a railroad executive seemingly alluded to more grade crossing stoppage instances informally indicating better business. #blockedcrossing #eastendhouston #trainabuse #dangerouscrossings #trainwatch
