About 300 schools and more than 5,000 athletes participated in the 30th annual Hispanic Games. But the boys two-mile invitational in some ways seemed like a Section 1 race. After all, with 18 runners in the race, North Rockland’s Claudel Chery (second photo) won in 9:19.51, Ryan Tuohy (third photo), also of North Rockland ran 9:20.99 for second, John Jay-Cross River's Andy Condon (fourth photo) was third in 9:25.38 and Hen Hud's Victor Delgado (fifth photo) took fourth in 9:25.97. Delgado's time was a personal best by more than 18-and-a-half seconds and Condon's a PB by more than four seconds, even though he ran the race after earlier running a personal best in the invitational mile. Both Chery's and Tuohy's time were indoor personal bests but fell short of their outdoor PBs for the distance. Still, while the two had entered the race shooting to run about 9:10, there wasn't a lot of disappointment, Chery remarking of his win, "I'll take it." 🔗 : Read more coverage from the Games,...
