Read to avoid one of the most common mistakes beginners make in sports photography! When I was starting out shooting sports I often overlooked straight horizons, but it can make or break a shot. In some cases, the intentional use of a Dutch angle (an intentional crooked horizon) can add drama and intensity to your sports photos, but be sure to use it purposefully and sparingly. Keep in mind when they are used in Hollywood, it’s typically used to express the feeling of something being off or unsettling. Don’t let crooked lines distract from the action or the story of the game.
