I don’t know who needs to hear this but contrary to what your mind is telling you, the sky will not fall if you take time off over the holidays - No work emails, no zoom, no planning.
In general, Guilt does serve a purpose for the human species. It keeps us in check and motivates us to make amends if we act unfairly or outside of our values.
However…
Feeling guilty doesn’t mean you have actually done anything wrong. So, when you are struggling with guilt it’s always good to asses the situation triggering it.
Quick question to ask yourself when struggling with guilt around the holidays is - ‘what is fair in this moment?’
If it’s fair for you to be able to take a break, then take this as your sign to take a break.
Give yourself permission to meet your own needs, focus on relaxing, and soon enough the guilt will pass.
Because, if not now then when?
Personally, I’ve had a very busy year so over the holiday...
