FIRE CREW: Valyermo Hotshots The valyermo.hotshots, stationed at the Mojave Work Center on the eastern edge of the Santa Clara Mojave River Ranger District, have a remarkable journey that showcases their dedication and determination. Originating as Valyermo Crew-4 in 2002 as part of the MEL buildup, they embarked on an eight-year journey as a Type 2 IA handcrew, honing their skills and cultivating a strong work ethic pivotal for an IHC. The 2010 season marked a turning point as the crew and leadership set their sights on achieving Type 1 IHC status, undertaking an arduous certification process. Through rigorous training, intensive physical conditioning, and unwavering commitment from every member, Valyermo successfully earned the distinction of becoming the Valyermo Hotshots in 2010.
