So, I had an important call with one of my clients last night. He is currently mired in a little slump after a very noticeable sharp start to the season. As we started talking, I knew the answers were going to come from my client himself, not from any sage advice that I was going to bring forth. Listening to him speak, his frustrations have grown out of a well meaning goaltending coach wanting him to play differently and changing how he approaches the game.
An incredibly important part of development and progression is your ability to communicate with your coaches and develop a mutual understanding. As coaches, our job is to identify how you, individually, read the game and best execute to be in cohesive fashion with the way the team plays their system to get the desired results.
