Oh my glob, you guys 💅⁣ ⁣ Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, is known to have X-ray-producing auroras around its poles, but those aren’t the only rays in the neighborhood. In this image of Jupiter, the purple space lumps surrounding the planet are massive clouds of X-rays observed by our NASAChandraXray telescope—some are even larger than the planet itself.⁣ ⁣ Jupiter’s auroras can also be seen as thin purple bands, particularly near the planet’s north pole.
