Blood, Sweat, and Punches A couple months ago, I was fortunate enough to get an invite to shoot something new. Although I do catch big UFC events on tv from time to time, I hadn’t seen something like it live before, and it’s safe to say I was blown away. Each fighter entered the cage with the idea that all it takes is just one punch, kick, elbow, or takedown that would catapult them to the big leagues. With every walk up to the ring and despite the rambunctious crowd and nervous-yet-encouraging trainers, there was an air of silence around the athletes. Fighting is a dangerous sport, and trained professional or not, there will always be a lingering notion of what could be someone’s last night on Earth. They know it, the trainers know it, the audience knows it, but yet they get up there anyway. The desire to prevail above all others. Such an awesome night.
