We asked high school teachers who engaged with our programming: Why are you interested in youth voter registration? Here are their responses: "Many of my students are first-generation Americans or new to this country. This was a great opportunity to talk about how to register to vote, especially since these conversations may not happen at home." "Civics matter. Having students see themselves as agents of change is one of the reasons I became a teacher! As John Lewis said, 'Democracy is not a state. It is an act.'" "I think it's crucial for my students to feel empowered to express their voices and flex their political muscle in future elections. That starts with understanding voter registration now and registering as early as possible." Teachers are the cornerstone of our work in high schools. Do you know a high school educator? Send them this post! Our program is the perfect extra-curricular to get students civically engaged. Visit thecivicscenter.org to use our free resources. ...
